Ever since the Estonian Union for Child Welfare started talking about the MAPChiPP trainings to take place in Estonia as part of the project, various national partners were very excited about it and eager to see the training materials and to participate in the trainings. Thus, it did not come as a surprise that our second MAPChiPP seminar was very popular again: the train the trainer seminar was fully booked – unfortunately, we had to disappoint another 10 interested trainers whom we could not offer to place in the seminar. All the more we are really happy to share all the materials through the MAPChiPP network and encourage specialists and trainers in child protection to use the modules!
We were delighted to conduct the seminar with 15 trainers who give trainings or read lectures in very diverse fields: midwife from healthcare college, prosecutors, social workers, specialists from Police and Border Guard Board, attorney-at-law, academics from universities, judge, specialist from Social Security Board, academic from Estonian Academy of Security Sciences etc. All of these experts were very enthusiastic and eager to start with the training.
Participants were very grateful for train the trainer course and for the materials. Our special thanks goes to the trainers Kati Valma and Dr. Kristjan Kask who carried out a very interesting and informative training with lots of examples from their everyday practice in child protection. In that way participants were open to share their own thoughts and ideas. We received really good feedback on the seminar, how it was organised and conducted. Participants especially appreciated discussions allowing to share experiences with other specialists. Some commented that they wished the course was even longer to be able to go yet deeper into the material and discussions.
At the end of the two days everybody agreed that multi-disciplinary trainings are a powerful way to take a step closer to a better and common understanding of ensuring child’s best interests and future MAPChiPP trainers are eager to start using the materials for trainings in their own fields!
